20 Q's with Steve Sweatpants

Creative photographer, visual genius..

He managed to convert his passion into a flourishing career..

Step into the world of Steven, a visual artist from NYC. A journey which started with sharing breathtaking photos of NYC on Instagram under the name @streetdreamsmag, which led to a thriving business and gallery in Tokyo.

Street Dreams Magazine goes further than just aesthetics; the images capture the character and feeling of each scene, creating a deep connection that feels supernatural.

He has the answers that inspires.

If your life had a theme song, what would it be?
Damnnnn, starting off with the tough questions. Probably Street Fighter Mas by Kamasi Washington, but I have so many theme songs. I might change it every season haha.

If you could spend a day in someone else's shoes, past or present, who would it be and why?
I only want to be me to be honest. But it would be dope to been around during the Harlem Renaissance, that just look like a beautiful time for black folks.

If you could instantly acquire a new skill, what would it be?
Painting would be the one, I just have such a love and respect for it.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
When my dad told me years ago, Don’t live to pay your rent. I still live by that till this day.

Can you share a special moment in your life that changed your perspective?
The day we made the New York Times for what we’ve accomplished with Street Dreams Magazine for sure.

When we got the paper I broke down and cried on Myrtle and Broadway in Brooklyn. I never graduated college or went to art school, so that validation really just made everything more real.

What's the most awe-inspiring place you've ever been to, and what made it special?
Tokyo has my heart. It’s just everything that it represents and how it presents itself. I’m obsessed with everything about it.

What message would you send to every person on Earth if you could?
Respect is free. Effort is free. So just be human and life will work out for all of us.

Who’s your biggest inspiration?
My dad still is my biggest inspiration. Everything that he did for my family and me and just for others, it was just the most beautiful thing. He wasn’t perfect but he never tried to be. So to me, it’s not even close. It’s always him.

What’s a skill or hobby of yours that no one knows about?
I’m obsessed with collecting magnets. Like I got a problem.

"I never graduated college or went to art school, so that validation really just made everything more real".
