The story of the Nike Air Safari

It was 1987 when Tinker Hatfield first introduced the safari print to a Nike sneaker. He wanted to take away the athletic feel of Nike's footwear and create a more fashion-minded, luxury yet comfy sneaker. Hatfield stumbled upon a furniture store in NYC when he noticed a couch covered in ostrich skin. Taking this inspiration to his design process... the Nike Air Safari was born.
